Anchor
Sprinter 170 Extended · Premium Tier
The Anchor is a full custom Sprinter 170 Extended build designed for extended off-grid travel. The client wanted a rig that could handle weeks off the grid without sacrificing comfort — a real living space, not just a sleeping platform.
The Build
We started with a blank Sprinter 170 Extended high-roof and built it into a fully self-contained off-grid home. The layout flows from a rear bedroom through a mid-van wet bathroom to a full galley kitchen and living area up front.
The electrical system is built around a lithium battery bank with rooftop solar and shore power input for when you’re parked at a campground. The plumbing system includes a full wet bathroom with a shower and a hot water heater — one of the features the client specifically wanted for cold-weather travel.
The kitchen has a two-burner cooktop, a compressor refrigerator, and custom hardwood countertops. The cabinetry throughout is custom-built in our shop to maximize storage while keeping the interior feeling open.
Climate control comes from an Espar diesel heater for cold nights and a MaxxAir fan for ventilation and airflow in warmer weather.
What the Client Wanted
The brief was simple: build a van they could live in full-time, travel in any season, and not have to think about whether they had enough power or water. Everything about the Anchor was designed to make off-grid living feel effortless.
