Crosswind

The Crosswind is a Sprinter 170 Extended build designed for a client who wanted the flexibility to go full-time whenever the timing was right. The build needed to work for weekend trips now and extended off-grid living later — without any compromises on either end.

The Build

We designed the Crosswind around versatility. The layout works whether you’re parked at a campground for a weekend or boondocking for weeks in the desert. Full off-grid electrical with solar keeps everything running without needing to plug in. A diesel heater handles cold nights, and a MaxxAir fan provides airflow and ventilation in warmer weather.

The interior is custom-built with cabinetry that maximizes storage throughout. Every cabinet and compartment was designed around the client’s actual gear and daily routine — not just generic storage boxes.

The 170 Extended gives you the most interior length of any standard Sprinter — enough room for a full layout with dedicated sleeping, living, kitchen, and storage zones without everything feeling stacked on top of each other. Paired with the high roof for standing height, it’s the most livable van platform we build.
