Wanderwell
14x7 Cargo Trailer · Standard Tier
The Wanderwell is a 14x7 cargo trailer conversion that shows what’s possible when you’re not working around wheel wells, a cab, or a driveshaft hump. The client wanted a fully self-contained space they could tow behind their truck — with all the livability of a van build and more room to spread out.
The Build
Starting with a blank 14x7 box gave us a canvas that no van can match. No wheel well intrusions, no cab-over constraints, no compromises on layout. We built a full kitchen along one wall with a cooktop, compressor refrigerator, and countertop space you’d actually want to cook on. The sleeping area is in the rear with storage underneath. A dedicated living zone in the front gives you space to sit, work, and relax without being on top of the bed.
The electrical system runs on a lithium battery bank with rooftop solar — enough to keep the fridge, lights, and devices running off-grid. Climate control comes from a diesel heater and a ventilation fan.
Why a Trailer
The client already owned a truck they liked driving. Buying a van would’ve meant either a second vehicle payment or giving up the truck. The trailer let them keep their daily driver and add a fully built living space they could hitch up whenever they wanted. At camp, they unhitch and have a free vehicle — something you can’t do with a van.
The 14x7 footprint is roughly comparable to a Sprinter 170 Extended in floor space, but the trailer cost a fraction of what a Sprinter would have. That savings went straight into the build.
