Understanding GVWR & Payload
What is GVWR?
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating is the maximum weight your van can safely support when fully loaded, including passengers, fuel, and all cargo. Exceeding this limit stresses the frame, suspension, brakes, and tires.
Payload Capacity
Payload = GVWR minus the vehicle's curb weight. This is what you can safely add: passengers, gear, water, propane, appliances, and building materials. Knowing this prevents illegal overloads.
Why It Matters
Overloading affects safety (tire blowouts, brake failure, instability), voids manufacturer warranty, and may violate DOT regulations. A precision design respects these limits.
